Families in Breightmet can now access a wide range of services and activities after Bolton’s latest family hub opened its doors.
The Bright Meadows Family Hub is the latest addition to a network of six centres across the borough, with a further two expected to open in 2025.
Families were welcomed to a family fun event that launched the opening of the new hub and were able to get a taste of the services that will be delivered from Bright Meadows as well as getting support from professionals on the day.
The families also joined in the creative activities, played outside with Little Bats, and engaged with the Bookworm Player Storyteller
From early December a range of activities have been provided by Bolton Toy Library, Little Bats and the Family Hub team, giving families access to play stay and learn sessions across the week, and from January 2025 antenatal clinics will also be provided.
Families will also be able to access a variety of services including advice on issues like parenting, infant feeding, debt, welfare and housing and how best to look after their own health and wellbeing.
Bolton Family Hub services are specifically for families with children up to the age of 19 years old, and up to 25 years for those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities.
The details of all the services that will be available at Bright Meadows are listed in the ‘Guide to service & Activities for families in Bolton’
Joining local families at the opening of Bright Meadows were Kirith Entwistle MP Member of Parliament for Bolton North East, Bolton Council’s Leader, Cllr Nick Peel, Executive Member for Children’s, Cllr Martin Donaghy, and many other senior staff and dignitaries.
Kirith Entwistle MP said:
“Our family hubs provide a lifeline for families with young children, and I was pleased to hear they’ll be expanding their offer soon.
“I know how isolating and scary it can be when you first become a parent, and having that community support available is so important.
“I’m looking forward to seeing Bright Meadows Family Hub support local parents and families.”
Bolton Council’s Executive Cabinet Member for Children’s Services, Cllr Martin Donaghy, said:
“Bolton’s expanding Family Hub network is making a real difference to young families across the borough, providing a firm basis from which children can thrive and develop happier, healthier and more fulfilling lives.
“Feedback has been extremely positive and the hubs are making a real difference by providing the services that people need, all in one place, and close to where they live.
“The Bright Meadows hub staff always offer a warm welcome and it’s a fantastic place for young families. I’d urge anyone to drop-in and have a chat and find out what is on offer.”
